Here is your Course Outline which will guide you through the course and it will help to keep you on track with your assessments.
Please click into Student Support on the Dashboard (accessed via the top or left-hand side navigation bar) for a range of resources to assist you throughout the course. This includes booking a Student Support Session, joining the Facebook Group and information on cultural support and wellbeing.

The Course Orientation section below, includes information on Study Skills and Online Learning Orientation videos. Please look through the study skills and watch each video to familiarise yourself with the program. Remember, you can watch the videos multiple times.
The Module 1 Course Materials folder below, contains all of the learning materials for the first Module (block) of the course. In this folder you will find your Learner Manual, course content videos and supplementary resources for the first Module.
In order to commence your learning for each Module, complete the Introductory Learning Activity at the start of each Module. This task is compulsory.
The Module 1 Assessments folder below contains the assessments for the first Module of the course. Please read The Assessment Process. This gives you information on why you need to complete assessments, some important rules about assessment and the appeals process.
Whilst you can work through the learning activities at your own pace, the assessments must be submitted by the due date. The assessment due dates are identified in the Course Outline and on the Dashboard. In the last week of this Module the next Module's assessments will be visible. By the time you reach Module 5 of this course all the assessments will be available.

The Assessment Process
Please Read The Assessment Process
Module 1 includes four assessments and you must satisfactorily complete all the tasks in order to be deemed satisfactory for this Module.
Assessment 1 is a role-play in which you will interview a client. After the role-play you will write the client’s notes, undertake legal research on the client’s issue and then write a short report for the solicitor.
Assessment 2 requires you to write a response to the client, organise a referral and answer fourteen related questions.
Assessment 3 is a role-play and related tasks. You will need to prepare the documentation for the meeting, role-play running the meeting and then reflect on the communication skills you displayed.
Assessment 4 consists of 21 short answer questions about advocacy and communication.

Module 2 includes three assessments, and you must satisfactorily complete all the tasks in order to be deemed satisfactory for this module.
Assessment 1 is a scenario where you will write the client’s notes, complete an application for bail, email both the client and the solicitor and then write a letter to the client.
Assessment 2 is role-play in which you will interview a client. After the role-play you will write the client’s notes, answer some written questions, record the sentencing outcome, and write a letter to the client.
Assessment 3 consists of thirty short answer questions about supporting clients, mental health and drug services, bail applications and court appearances.

Module 3 includes three assessments and you must satisfactorily complete all the tasks in order to be deemed satisfactory for this Module.
Assessment 1 is a scenario where you will undertake research on WHS, write a research report and then write a letter to the client.
Assessment 2 requires you to first conduct research and then write two reports.
Assessment 3 consists of twenty short answer questions about privacy, conflict of interest and freedom of information.

Module 4 Assessments
Module 4 includes three assessments and you must satisfactorily complete all the parts to be deemed satisfactory for this Module.
Assessment 1 is a scenario where you must prepare a Native Title Fact Sheet and email it to the client. You will then meet the client who is making the claim and, after the role play, write a file note of the meeting.
Assessment 2 requires you to conduct research and write a report on your findings, send two emails to your client, complete a Claimant Application form, and write a closing argument.
Assessment 3 requires you to complete a Land Claim form and respond to some short answer questions.

Module 5 Assessments
Module 5 includes three assessments and you must satisfactorily complete all the parts to be deemed satisfactory for this Module.
Assessment 1 is a case study where you must complete two incident reports and respond to eight short answer questions.
Assessment 2 is a role play where you must mediate on a constructive dismissal and write two emails and a letter.
Assessment 3 requires you to answer ten short answer questions about mediation, negotiation, communication, and stress management.
