Module 1 consists of three units of competency.

BSBFNG403 Participate as a board member of an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander organisation 

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to meet the diverse roles and responsibilities of a board member in an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander organisation.

The unit applies to individuals responsible for monitoring and guiding the activities of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander organisations in their role as a member of a board of governance.

 Comply with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander organisation director obligations

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to comply with the obligations of a company director, while active as an executive or non-executive director of an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander organisation, in the oversight of the organisation’s affairs.

The unit applies to individuals holding a company director role in an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander organisation.

 Plan and chair Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander organisation board meetings

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to plan for and chair a board meeting for an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander organisation. It includes consulting with required stakeholders and using agreed decision-making processes.

The unit applies to individuals who chair board meetings in their role of monitoring and guiding the activities of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander organisations.
